To promote a well mobilized, pro-active, empower and poverty free society by actively promoting and facilitating the acquisition of relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes for self-reliance.

To have women and youth who are inclusively, practically involved in sustainable development and improve their livelihoods.

Organisational Background

Youth and Women Initiative for Sustainable Development (YWISD) is a local community based nonprofit autonomous non-government organization located in Bulaga village, Wakiso Sub County, Wakiso district in Central Uganda. This organization started in 2015 after realizing that youth and women form the greatest percentage of the community affected by poverty, poor education levels and high drop-out rates among orphans and other vulnerable children, human right violation, poor health care and ignorance. It’s committed to positive empowerment of mothers and youth to bridge the gap of gender inequality and unemployment in Wakiso district through life-long and self-sustaining projects in Uganda

YWSID initiates its programs and implements projects under the following core values;

Our Major Programs

YWISD’s major programs include; Food security and empowerment program, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS, rights awareness and leadership education, WASH and Environment conservation and climate change mitigation and adoption and promoting access to quality education. YWISD focused holistic approach that is demand driven, participatory and rights based. This empowered communities to demand for proper equal presentation and service delivery to the local people

  • To improve general livelihoods of women and youth through income generating activities and gaining life skills for self-reliance

  • To empower the women and youth in Wakiso district with skills and habits necessary for inclusive participation for sustainable development

  • To integrate, complement women an youth in the productive roles of the society

  • To implement programs and projects geared towards community led empowerment and development of the women and youth in Wakiso district.

  • To develop capacity building and life skills for development while ensuring climate change mitigation and adaption for sustainable development and environment conservation
